Artist Statement
Stepping firmly into the foreground, Amanda Joy’s next musical project, Amanda Joy and the Noise, puts the artist in the driver's seat of her creative visions, placing this powerhouse vocalist into well-earned visibility. Her previous musical endeavors have been expansive, collaborative, and foundational in shaping her unique and unforgettable sound.
Amanda has lent her voice as a supporting vocalist for The Diamond Street Players, The Emerald Empire Band, Project Iceworm, The Chops Experience, and Atlanta Funk Society. She was also the lead of the Atlanta-based band, The Viberance, and has held successful residencies at The Waiting Room, Argosy, and Buteco, and has been featured in Kevin Scott’s Funky Christmas show (featuring Bernard Purdie) and ATL Collective’s James Brown Christmas shows. Amanda Joy’s soulful runs and funky depth have made her a sought-after accompanying artist in Atlanta’s vibrant music scene.
With Amanda Joy and the Noise, she blends the richness of funk and soul with big band power, delivering playful covers of both classics and current favorites. While she’s best known for her commanding vocals in funk arrangements, Amanda’s dynamic vocal range spans rock, R&B, and jazz—an adaptability rooted in her gospel beginnings, rural upbringing, and shaped by time spent in Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Oakland, and South Africa. Fans of Amanda Joy can look forward to everything they already love about her, plus new vocal challenges and bold arrangements that push her artistry even further. Channeling her funk and soul foundations, Amanda Joy is infusing Amanda Joy and the Noise with fresh energy and vibrant spirit.
